Barnes and Noble Book Fair

It is that time of year when we are looking for that perfect gift for that perfect someone.  We have an opportunity for you to find that perfect gift while also supporting the North Boone Schools. On Thursday, December 10th from 9 am to 9 pm, the Barnes and Noble store at Cherryvale Mall is hosting our annual Bookfair.  A percentage of sales goes directly back into each school's library, including purchases made at the Starbucks cafe located in the store (you might even see a drink named after our Viking mascot). That afternoon, we will also have: Holiday story time, face painting, and purchased books gift wrapping.

We hope to see you there.

Friday Festivities

On Friday, October 30th, students at Capron enjoyed several festive activities! In the morning we recognized several students for showing Capron Approved Behavior as well as Students earning recognition for being nominated Student of the Month for showing Respectful Behavior. We also recognized our top students in the Fun Run.

Following our Assembly, classes took turns taking hay rides through Capron. A huge thank you goes out to the Capron Fire Department for providing us an escort in the foggy weather, The Mueller Family for providing us with the wagon and straw bales, and our own custodian, Rusty Meier, for driving the tractor!

In the afternoon our Capron Families joined us outside for our costume parade. The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time. Thank you families for coming out and celebrating with our students!

Following the parade, students enjoyed games and goodies provided by parents, teachers, and volunteers. Thank you so much for making our Halloween celebration special!

Golden Apple Nomination Deadline

The October 19th deadline for Golden Apple nominations is quickly approaching. Teachers love reading the wonderful comments others write about the work they do with students. Nominations can be as short as a few sentences or as long as desired--The Golden Apple Foundation wants to know about our teachers. Anyone can nominate a teacher (other teachers, staff, students, former students, parents. etc.) This year PreK-5th grade teachers are eligible.

Online nominations can easily be submitted: http://goldenappleofrockford.com/form/5-teacher-nomination-form.html  Teachers will receive the comments (option for nominators' names to remain anonymous) in November.

Safety Drills

As part of our continuing efforts to improve safety here at Capron Elementary, we have conducted Fire, Storm, and  Intruder drills this fall. The safety and welfare of our students and staff are our highest priority at Capron Elementary. We will continue to practice safety drills throughout the year to help our students know what to do in the event of an emergency. The school district is working closely with local authorities to correctly implement these procedures. The goals of the training drills are to improve our ability to protect students, save lives, and reduce injuries. We encourage families to talk about the drills our students have experienced. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your continued support of Capron Elementary.
